7 Tips on How to Get Rid of Distractions

21 de February de 2024 - 13h09m

Productivity has always been a necessity for companies and a challenge for most professionals. Access to new technologies has caused many people to waste their time, thereby reducing their productivity. In this article, we will give you 7 tips on how to eliminate distractions.

How to eliminate distractions

1. Break down your project into small parts. It's not enough to make a list of priorities like "Build the company's website," "Increase sales," "Create an employee benefits program," etc. You need to specify each of these priorities into small tasks so that you know the next step to take in each case. This way, you can establish a schedule and set each project in motion.

2. Avoid doing multiple things at once. Resist the temptation to have email, Facebook, Twitter, and ten other windows open at the same time. The famous multitasking is extremely detrimental to work. According to some experts, jumping from task to task leaves you numb, slows down your thinking, and takes away your decision-making ability.

3. Eliminate distractions. If you're not able to complete an important task, it's worth taking drastic measures: lock the door, put up a "Do not disturb" sign, turn off your phone, close Outlook, and in more extreme cases, disconnect from the internet. You'll see that work will flow much more easily.

4. Determine specific times for email. Choose two or three times during the day to read and respond to emails. Interrupting what you're doing all the time to check messages creates a huge mess in your head, cutting your productivity in half.

5. Swap email for the phone. If you have to respond to an email more than twice, it's a sign that it's better to pick up the phone and resolve the issue once and for all. It can be much quicker and painless.

6. Be the master of your time. Don't let your daily activities be controlled by external mechanisms. Determine your schedule early in the morning and stick to what you've determined, as much as possible. Many people start the day by reading emails and go crazy trying to solve everything at the same time. Make your daily schedule and leave the emails for later.

7. Take a break every 90 minutes. It's proven: your brain consumes more glucose than any other part of your body. After about an hour, your energy supply will be depleted. It's no wonder people get tired after long meetings. The ideal is to take a break every 90 minutes and recharge: eat something, talk, enjoy the scenery (if there is one). It's good for your brain and for your company.

So, what do you think? Now you know how to eliminate distractions!!!
